The Range Rover Sport starts off at a slightly higher price, but it immediately becomes clear that you get a lot more with that. Power output, for one thing, is certainly higher from the Range Rover Sport. A higher top speed comes with that extra power, another point in the Range Rover Sport’s favor in the performance department. Yet, despite the superior power output, the Range Rover Sport also delivers better fuel economy. In most cases, buyers have to choose between power and fuel economy, and it’s an impressive feat of engineering when you have both.
The Range Rover Sport is built to be capable both on the road and off. So you get things like height-adjustable air suspension that makes it easy to clear obstacles when you’re in the dirt. But it also has a tight turning circle, making it just as at home navigating a parking garage. Audiophiles will appreciate that the Range Rover Sport comes with a 15-speaker Meridian sound system, a clear advantage over the 10-speaker system in the Q8. You also get a bigger and easier-to-see/operate screen in the Range Rover Sport. The Range Rover Sport comes with standard air suspension, and although air suspension is available for the Q8, you have to move up to a more expensive trim that wipes out nearly all of the Q8’s price advantage in order to have it. The Q8 air suspension also isn’t height adjustable like it is on the Range Rover Sport, so there is no off-road advantage that comes with it.
