The ultimate version of the X7 is the Alpina XB7 special edition, and this will give you the very best of everything BMW, yet it still fails to live up to the Range Rover options list, and its offerings include ceramic controls or wood trim with either metal inlays or marquetry. You can also get a long wheelbase version of the Range Rover with no third row of seats, making room for a pair of supremely comfortable reclining second-row seats. No such option is offered for the X7, which comes with just one wheelbase and one seating configuration.

On top of everything else that we’ve already mentioned, the Range Rover also offers greater versatility when it comes to drivetrain options. If you include the Alpina version of the X7, there are three drivetrain options offered for the X7. The Range Rover is offered with four, but the biggest advantage is that one of those options is a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. While BMW does have some PHEV models in its lineup, the X7 isn’t one of them. There isn’t even a conventional hybrid drivetrain offered for the X7.
