Range Rover Sport vs. Mercedes-Benz GLE Comparison with Price, Specs, & Photos
Range Rover vehicles are very tough to compete with, thanks to a blend of incredible performance, exceedingly good looks, and a refined English sense of luxury that you just don’t get from other manufacturers. But that doesn’t mean that competitors don’t try, and one of the more popular examples is the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, a more stylish version of the GLE aimed at the Range Rover Sport. But how does the Mercedes actually measure up? Let’s take a look.

There are several versions of each of these vehicles available, so we chose the two that were closest in price, as well as performance orientation. And on the subject of performance, the Range Rover Sport has a clear advantage, thanks to the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. It is considerably more powerful than the inline-6 in the Mercedes, and the result is a much quicker 0-60 time. There is a V8-powered version of the GLE, but it’s priced to compete with the Range Rover SV, which is even more powerful still. In all, the GLE Coupe might be more stylish and a more serious performance machine than the standard GLE, but it lags behind the performance of the Range Rover Sport across multiple versions.

Whether you’re talking about standard equipment or options, the Range Rover Sport has a real equipment advantage. The first place you see this is the stereo, where the Range Rover Sport comes with more speakers, for a listening experience that’s just that little bit better. Popular features like heated back seats, a heated steering wheel, and adaptive cruise control all come standard on the Range Rover Sport, but require you to check more boxes on the order form for the GLE. Lastly, Mercedes-Benz doesn’t have quite the same commitment to personalization that you get with Land Rover, with a good example being the wheel options, where the Range Rover Sport is available with more and bigger options.
