There are three different engines offered with the Defender 110, and while the differences between these are important to performance enthusiasts, they don’t make a huge difference in towing capacity or any difference in roof carrying. That’s not to say the extra capacity from the 6- and 8-cylinder engines doesn’t come in handy for those who need it, and the less powerful the engine, the harder it has to work to tow the same amount. Engine choice doesn’t impact rear cargo space, but we should mention it here anyway. If you get the available third row of seats in your Defender 110, it will come with 10.7 cubic feet of cargo space. Behind the second row of seats, there is a much bigger 34 cubic feet of cargo space. And if you also fold the second row down, you have 78.8 cubic feet of space.
Defender 110 Adventure-Ready Options
It’s important to note that the Defender 110 is an adventure vehicle, and it therefore has cargo carrying needs that differ from those of other towing vehicles. That said, you will still need some fairly conventional equipment as well, and the Towing Package offers All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), Terrain Response® 2, Configurable Terrain Response, Advanced Tow Assist, and, of course, a tow hitch receiver all in one package. An available integrated air compressor saves space by alleviating the need to bring a separate compressor, and the available Portable Rinse System saves space in the same way. Extra side-mounted gear carrying boxes are available, which are lockable, waterproof, and compatible with a radio antenna, should you decide to use the box to store your radio. The cargo capacity of these boxes is 24 liters and/or 37 pounds. And since the Defender 110 is just as at home on everyday adventures, there is also the Click and Go system, which gives you interior hooks for hanging dry cleaning, shopping bags, or whatever else you might have that requires a hanger.
